Biography

Born in Ocala, Florida, tenor Devin Eatmon is “destined for prominant dramatic roles in his future” (Palm Beach Daily News). As a 2024 winner of the Opera Foundation of America scholarship he is a current Studio Artist at the world renowned Vienna State Opera (2024-26).

During his time at Vienna State Opera, Eatmon has performed roles such as, Erster Geharnischter in the new production of Die Zauberflöte directed by Barbara Horáková and conducted by Bertrand de Billy. Other performances at the State Opera include Dandini von Grosseto (Palestrina) conducted by Christian Thielemann and Spoletta (Tosca) conducted by Marco Armiliato. Additionally, he sang the roles of Main Top (Billy Budd), Dritter Jude (Salome), Erster Gralsritter (Parsifal), Haushofmeister bei Faninal (Der Rosenkavalier), and soon to be Portos (Musketiere!), as well as Roderigo (Otello).

Some of his more notable covers at Vienna State Opera include Malcolm (Macbeth), Chekalinsky (Pique Dame), Cassio (Otello), Heinrich der Schreiber (Tannhäuser), Tambourmajor (Wozzeck), L’aumônier (Dialogues des Carmélites), Dritter Knappe (Parsifal), and Gran Sacerdote di Nettuno (Idomeneo).

Prior to his European debut, Eatmon spent the summer of 2024 covering Rodolfo in La Bohème at both Wolf Trap Opera and Opera Theater of Saint Louis. Additionally at Wolf Trap, he sang the role of the German Sentinel in Kevin Puts’ “rewritten premiere” of Silent Night. For the highly anticipated “Center Stage Concert” at OTSL, Devin portrayed Hoffmann in the Juliette Act “Septet” of Les contes d’Hoffmann directed by renowned soprano Patricia Racette with the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra.

In the 2022–24 seasons, Devin was a Young Artist at Palm Beach Opera performing as Spoletta (Tosca), Nathanaël and Spalanzani (Les contes d’Hoffmann), and Flavio (Norma). During this time, he also covered the leading roles of Pinkerton (Madama Butterfly), Cavaradossi (Tosca), and Pollione (Norma), along with scenes from Rusalka as Prince and Die tote Stadt as Paul directed by Paul Curran.

In the 2020–21 season, Devin was an Artist in Residence at Opera Colorado where he was to cover Don José in Carmen (Covid cancelation). Prior to that, he also spent a summer at the Aspen Music Festival, where he sang scenes as Rodolfo (La Bohème), Alfredo (La Traviata), and Candide (Candide).

Devin proudly holds both bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Florida State University (2015–20) where he performed the roles of Edgar Aubrey (Der Vampyr), Rodolfo (La Bohème), Curley (Of Mice and Men), and George Villiers (Prince of Players).
